| SLSR Elle Team Beats Island-wide 91 Teams & Carries Record Championship Trophy |
A record 21’ 5’’ feet tall championship trophy, believed to be one of the biggest in Asia, was won by Elle players in the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) of the Army in a national Elletournament, held recently at Ganemulla public ground.
The Elle tournament, organized by Parakandeniya ‘Api Ekamuthu’ Sports Club, had its final encounter with several teams who were qualified, out of 91 island-wide Elle teams that took part in the tournament. Major General Boniface Perera, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR, extending best wishes to the SLSR players, took part in the award ceremony and posed for a group photo, together with players, SLSR Center Commandant, Sports Officer, Warrant Officer in charge of sports and others as a token of memory.
